The Dawlish Challenge;
The committee
of the Dawlish Challenge would like to introduce you to this exciting
new event that will be taking place on Saturday 19th July 2008.
11.00am - 7.00pm.
How It Works;
Form a team
with family, friends or colleagues, as many of you have done before.
Choose your 'Team Name' and even decide on a theme and why not go the
whole hog and get your team into 'Fancy Dress'. Next, plan your
fundraising and enjoy it! We will be able to provide you with a list
(a growing list) of ideas and advise you of any support materials
available. To help make this a successful event start your
fundraising as early as you can. Then come along and have a fun
'Challenge Day'.
How to get involved;
Contact us at
the email address given at the bottom of this page and we will supply
you with details. Once you have joined you will be invited to the
monthly meetings and will receive regular newsletters. You will
receive your newsletters quicker if you register your email address -
and it saves time & money as well.
Challenge Day;
Team Captains
will check-in on arrival and pay in any outstanding money raised.
When you do this, you will be given all necessary paperwork and
instructions which will explain the days activities. We will be
looking at a variety of challenges ranging from 'sporty' ones to
'mind teasers' (maybe even if anyone knows a suitable challenge).
Actually, I know one which involves sucking a Malteser on the end of
a straw and seeing who can hold it there the longest!!!!
Obviously
we're not looking for Olympic standard competitors (unless the
Maltesers Challenge makes it's debut at the 2012 Games that is) we're
just looking for people of All Ages & All Abilities who want to
raise money for a worthwhile cause and have Loads & Loads of Fun
doing it!
All of the
challenges will be fully explained at the meetings so there won't be
too many surprises, which means the more competitive amongst you will
even get an opportunity to get some training in before the big
day&ldots; Better get a supply of Maltesers then!!!!
As with any
serious sporting event - there will be an aerobic style warm-up to
get the day under way - everyone can join in!
Attractions on
the Day;
We are
currently in the process of planning the attractions to make this a
'Fun Filled Family Day Out'. So far these include:
Live Music
Displays
Competitions
Childrens Amusements
Refreshments
Cancer
Research UK Information Stand
Hog Roast
Stalls (Team
members are welcome to run their own stalls for extra fundraising)
More details
to follow as the weeks progress.
At the end of
the Challenge;
Certificates
will be awarded to all participants. Awards will be presented for 1st
2nd & 3rd Team Places in the points totals.
